ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Treat equipment and tools as if they are your own
  • Work together as a team
  • Focus on the job at hand, not what everyone else is doing
  • This is not a socializing club, while at work focus on work

  • Communicate with each other Show fellow crewmen and foremen respect

  • Help train new employees

  • Willingness to learn Erects scaffolds

  • Demolishes buildings

  • Performs work as assigned by crew foreman

  • Notifies safety director and crew foreman of any mechanical issues

  • Notifies crew foreman of any material issues

  • Examines specifications to determine dimensions of structure

  • Builds falsework to temporarily strengthen or protect buildings undergoing construction.

  • Installs doors and windows

  • Installs sub-flooring in buildings

  • Installs steel or wood covering on the outer walls and roofs of buildings

  • Guide structural steel members by using straps or ropes

  • Fasten structural steel members to cable of hoist/crane by use of chain, cable, etc

  • Signal worker(s) operating hoist/crane equipment to lift and place structural steel member

  • Set up hoisting/crane equipment for raising and placing structural steel

  • Insert sealing strips, insulating material, ladders, flanges, etc. wherever necessary

  • Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of structural steel members using a leveler

  • Bolt aligned structural steel members in position until they can be permanently bolted in place

  • Pull, push, or pry structural steel member into approximate position while the member is supported by hoisting device or crane

  • Other duties may be assigned

  • Ability to multi-task in a demanding environment

  • Ability to read and understand blueprint

  • High School education or GED required
